FPC LaGrange Montessori – Where Children Come First
For more than four decades, LaGrange Montessori has provided a first-class educational experience for young children in our community. Our faculty and staff are all committed to the same promise – that our children will always come first.
The First Presbyterian Montessori School was founded in 1976. The school is dedicated to providing the best possible Montessori education at the lowest practical cost. We provide a Montessori toddler, preschool and kindergarten experience for children between the ages of 2 and 6 years.
The school is administered by a Board of Directors made up of church representatives and parents of children in school. The staff consists of Montessori Guides who have received their training from nationally and internationally recognized Montessori training programs. There are two Toddlers classes with two Montessori Guides and two primary classes, children ages 3-6 with three Montessori Guides.
Maria Montessori (1870-1952), developed her educational methods from a profound appreciation for the power and mystery of the child. The child, given primary respect, makes spontaneous choices within a prepared environment, and is “free to create himself.”
Students in all parts of the world are greatly benefiting from this understanding of discipline, which teaches freedom and responsibility. Almost every early-childhood teacher in the world uses some of her techniques and ideas, and the Montessori movement continues to grow.
